NL Central[/u]
Houston Astros- Clemens is back and still dominant at age 72. Seriously though, they have a great rotation. And despite the fact that they no longer have Carlos Beltran, they will find out that they can indeed win without him. At least it is another division pennant for Clemens before he retires for good this time.
St Louis Cardinals- They lost Woody Williams, but made up for it by getting Mark Mulder. That’s what we call trading up. Behind Pujols and Rolen, they will be good enough to grad the Wild Card spot for the National League. 2 quick thoughts on these guys: 1- So Taguchi is now the best player name in the MLB today, 2- Rick Ankiel will be YOUR comeback player of the year. You read it here first folks.
Chicago Cubs- They will finish third this year, Slammin’ Sammy will be gone by the All Star Break and Nomar will be left wondering what the heck he was thinking signing with a team that has something to do with some sort of curse. The upside here is that at least Mark Prior will be back to 100%.
Pittsburgh Pirates- Fourth place out of 6 teams isn’t too bad, is it? Well, maybe it is, since that means 30 games out of first. The Pirates have decent young pitching, I will give them that. Too bad the best hitter they have had recently was Randall Simon when he hit that sausage up in Milwaukee. All kidding aside, Jason Bay, Tike Redman, and Craig Wilson will all be fantastic players within the next 3 or 4 years. Too bad the Pirates need them now.
Cincinnati Reds- We all know the story here. Griffey starts doing good, gets injured, and is out for the year. Lather, rinse, repeat. If only Sean Casey and Adam Dun were playing for a team where people knew how good these 2 really were. Like maybe Houston? Hey, its possible.
Milwaukee Brewers- This team is about as good looking as Geoff Jenkins ankle. And that its not a good thing. Come to watch the Brew Crew lose until the 7th inning, then watch the sausage races. Then leave, because you just saw the highlight of the day right there.
