NL East[/u]
Atlanta Braves- Ahhh, the Braves. The utter joy and absolute bane of my baseball watching experience. Smoltz is back in the rotation! Hudson is here! Maybe Giles can last the entire season this time! Too bad none of that will matter come playoff time. But we aren’t worried about that quite yet. Braves win the East for the 43rd consecutive year. They can’t hit, but that pitching staff will be un-hittable again. I still don’t see why some people think this is a weak division. Its better than any of the ones in the AL, that’s for sure.
Florida Marlins- Now let me say that this pick is contingent on the Marlins signing Carlos Delgado. If they can, then wow, this lineup will be VERY good. Needless to say, they still play for second. The speed of the position players like Castillo and Pierre will make them good enough for the runner up spot.
New York Mets- Ok, I despise the Mets, but they sure shelled out the cash this off season didn’t they? And if for some reason Delgado signs here, that will be downright scary. I mean, they will then be up to a whopping 3 (count ‘em - 3!) guys who can actually produce. Whoa, I have nightmares about that. Too bad the rest of those guys aren’t gonna do anything to help.
Philadelphia Phillies- Hey, at least they finally fired Larry Bowa. And they have that pretty new stadium. Oh yeah, and they also signed a 34 year old washed up pitcher who couldn’t win anything with the Yankees. Seriously, they just aren’t trying anymore I guess.
Washington Nationals- New city, new name, too bad it isn’t a brand new team. Yes the Expos moving was the most exciting part of the franchise this year. And that will have to last until next off season . On a personal note, that might just possibly be the most obvious and dumb nickname for a sports team this side of the Houston Texans
